“We Felt Free” – Newspaper Mockup Illustration

This mockup design reimagines a newspaper spread featuring a political article about Cuban protests. Using Adobe Photoshop, I integrated collage-style elements, blending photography, bold typography, and digital illustration to amplify the story’s themes of resilience, freedom, and defiance. The imagery layers symbolic visuals such as Cuban flags, protest crowds, and freedom slogans over a red silhouette of the island to evoke urgency and unity.

As the daughter of a Cuban immigrant father, this project holds personal significance for me. I wanted the design to honor the courage of Cubans who continue to fight for liberty while also reflecting my own family’s connection to the story.

The layout is presented as a realistic magazine mockup to simulate editorial context, demonstrating both digital compositing skills and the ability to visualize artwork in print media. This piece showcases my ability to combine photo manipulation, typographic integration, and narrative-driven design to enhance the impact of journalistic storytelling.
